OWN SWEET TIME
Own Sweet Time is by Sydney based designer Nadine Sharpe, who specialises in creating simple pieces that are bold, full of colour and lots of fun. Using a range of mediums, such as polymer clay, resin and rope,, you will see a lot of colour and simple themes that create truly versatile jewellery. Own Sweet Time pieces can be worn every day, whether you are heading to the park with the kids, out for lunch or a night on the town.
About me
After spending over 20 years working in the corporate world, doing jobs that I really didn’t like, it was time to break out and do something that I was passionate about. It was a big risk as a single parent with two small children, but I figured that the more fulfilled I was, the happier I would be and the happier my kids would be as a result. Plus, what a cool way for me to show my children that you need to follow your dreams and do something you really loved.
I had always loved big, statement jewellery. There is nothing that dresses up a simple outfit more than a beautiful necklace. I had amassed a huge collection of other people’s designs over the years, but I had so many of my own ideas that it was a natural thing for me to start making my own.
It is always a challenge bringing an idea to life. There is the financial cost, the tools and equipment you need, the workspace and so on. But one of the biggest things is having the confidence to believe in yourself and to take the risk of putting your product out there for everyone to see. I have had some great support, which has helped me take that step, and I am so grateful for it. I now believe in myself and know that I have made the right decision.
So now I am a designer and maker of beautiful jewellery. I am experimenting with a number of different mediums, which is an exciting time. And I am getting to pass on my knowledge to others, which I absolutely love!
